Measuring productive efficiency of the maize crop in the region of Dujailah / Wasit province 2010

Abstract

ABSTRACT:The present study aims to identify the reality of the production, the reality of the production of maize crop and the most important factors that led to the decline in production in the region of Dujailah (Wasit province), being one of the oil crops, industrial, and also includes a compound essential in the diet of animal feed, and adopted the study style of economic analysis quantitative assessment function, the total cost to reach the optimal size, which in turn achieves production efficiency / unit area, data was collected (simple of study) depending on the questionnaire prepared for this purpose. The sample consists of (21) out of (44) farmers for this crop, ranging cultivated area (800-1000) dunum, the study found the average actual production achieved a (1.150) tons / dunum, where it was less than the size that achieves production efficiency a (2.80) tons / dunum of the study sample. The terms of variable costs accounted for the largest proportion of the total cost, amounting to (72.86%), while the remainder were from the terms of the share of fixed costs with other factors in terms of (27.19%) of total costs.
