Synthesis and spectral studies of new Schiff base pyrimidine-2-ylimino-acetic acid and its complexes with Cobalt(II), Nickel(II), Copper(II), Cadmium(II), Mercucry(II) and Lead(II) ions

Abstract

AbstractPyrimidine-2-ylamine condens with glyoxylic acid gave pyrimidine-2-ylimino-acetic acid (L) and characterized by elemental analysis (C.H.N), FT-IR and 1H, 13C-NMR. The ligand (L) reacted with metal ions (II); Co, Ni, Cu, Cd, Hg and Pb forming complexes. These complexes were identified by metal analysis (A.A.), FT-IR spectral, conductivity, magnetic susceptibility measurements and UV-visible spectral. The Co(II), Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II) ions in each complexes are tetra coordinated in a tetrahedral geometry. The Ni(II), and Cu(II) ions are hexa coordinated in a octahedral geometry.
