The impact of mathematics curriculum in basic education schools in the students' ability to formulate mathematical problems

Abstract

The teaching of various curricula has gained a great attention from those interested in many advanced countries and those pursing them in the felid of scientific development covered all aspects of life, and the math curriculum has essential share no less than other curricula of its content and methods of teaching, for its great importance in developing the sciences. Depending on this research is seeking for recognize the influence of curriculum of math Dept. in the basic college of education of the student’s ability in forming the mathematical questions for the primary stage, through the following zero hypothesis:- there is no difference of statistic significance at the levels significance(0.05) between two averages the marks of the second and forth stages for the math dept. in their ability in forming the mathematical questions .The research limitations are:-1-The students of math dept. for the second and fourth stages in the Basic Education college. Diyala University for the Academic Year(2011-2012)2- Seven of the mathematical questions included in the math text book of the sixth primary stage for the academic year( 2011-2012)The research sample included students of Math dept. for the second and fourth stages in the Basic Education College- Diyala university amounted(88) he/she students of (45) she/he students in the second stage and(43) he/she of the forth stage. To measure the student ability( the research sample) to form the math questions for the primary stage , the special test depended on the ability to form questions in light with their kinds, and the number of test items(42) items of (6) items for each kind of questions, and the researcher makes sure of its authentication and correctness, also calculating the difficulty two coefficients and distinguishing of its items. After applying the test and processing of data statistically by using (T- test) for two independent samples, the research revealed the following results:- there is difference of statistic significance at the level of significant(0.05) and free degree(86) between the two averages of the second and fourth students’ marks in favor of the fourth stage, in light of the research the researcher has reached to a number of recommendations and suggestions.
