Survey study was conducted for the period from April 2009 till April 2010 to investigate the spread of Echinococcosis in animals slaughtered in the slaughter house of Babil province, during this study examined , the 20419 cattle, 1228 Buffaloes, 212528 sheep and 5160 of goats . This study shows that the highest rate of infection disease Echinococcosis was in Buffalo, (3.56%), followed by infection rate in goats (3.25%) followed by infection rate in sheep (1.6%) while the occupied cows ranked fourth by 1.25%, found significant differences in the incidence of the buffalo and goats , While there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence in cattle and sheep. A positive correlation was demonstrated between percentage incidence of infection with age of the animal. There are seasonal changes in percentage incidence in animal that infection with disease , but in the current study found that the rate infection increased in the Springr in sheep and goats (2.13 % , 6.17 % , respectively) . while the infection rate of cattles and buffaloes increased in Summer (1.47 % , 4.63 % , respectively) . These findings reflect the existence of the life cycle maintenance and the transmission of the cestode Echinococcus granuoossus from definitive host (dogs)to intermediate hosts (cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats ) in Babil.
