Effectiveness of some growing characters and yield of wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) by water extract concentrations of Eruca, Sunflower and corn

Abstract

Pots experiment was conducted in 2012-2013 season to investigate the allelopathic effects of aqueous extracts concentrations ( 1, 2 , and 3 %) of Eruca, sunflower and corn on some growing characters , grain yield and biological yield of wheat variety Sham-6. RCBD with three replications was used .Results showed no significant differences on emergence percentage and plant height . Control treatment was significantly surpassed in all characters values ( 12..31gm.plant-1 0.1351847gm.plant-1 day-1, 4.4spike.plant-1, 26.52grain.spike-1, 39.72gm, 4.64gm.plant-1, 17.186gm.plant-1 ) for plant dry weight after 120 days of emergence , average crop growing, no.of spikes/ plant, no. of seeds/ spike, 1000 seed weight, grain yield and biological yield. The treatment by using 3% corn extract had the lowest values in all above characters (7.29gm.plant-1, 0.0810737gm.plant.-1day-1, 3.33spike.plant-1, 21.44grain.spike-1, 34.16gm, 2.448gm.plant-1, 9.746gm.plant-1 ) . All characters values were reduced with the increasing of concentration of the water extracts of Eruca, sunflower and corn. The three concentrations of corn extracts were the highest allelopathic effects , while the concentrations of sunflower extracts were the lowest allelopatic effects in all characters studied .
