Measurement some of physio-chemical parameters in Tigris river near the center of Baghdad city

Abstract

The present study deal with measure some of physic-chemical parameters (Air and water temperature, Dissolved oxygen "DO", Biological oxygen demand (BOD5), chemical oxygen demand (COD), Total suspended solid (TSS), Total dissolved solid (TDS), Nitrate (NO3), Nitrite (NO2) and phosphate (Po4). Also Total coliform (TC), Fecal coliform (FC) and E.Coli were counted in the water of Tigris river near the center of Baghdad city during (July, August and September2013).The results showed, that the values of all parameters were high at station 2 and 3. While station 1 recorded the lower values for all studied parameters this may be due to that station 2 and 3 were exposure to the discharge of domestic sewage and industrial effluents near by the mentioned stations, while station 1 was far from the source of pollution. In concluded studied parameter values were with acceptable range according to WHO standard.
