Abstract

TireaimoftheresearchistoffingaSConCentrationinsoil samples taken frorn area situated in south east of Baghdad (Al-wardia,ALTrvitha and Haiy AL-Ryaid) to detennine the level of concentration of these areas, with Radon gas this contamination x,as due to the mis-hanclelecl of the radioactive sources of the Atomic Energy oganization after the .var on Iraq in (2003). This research was concerned with the detennination of Radon using alpha-emitters registration rvhich is ernited from Rado, detector. The concentration values .vere calculated bv L concentration gas in (CR-39) a comparison u,itl.r standard samples. Abstract

The noise that associated with radar images is considered to be very important problem that complicates the developments of these systems. Because it prakes the interpretation and analysis of these irnages a ditficult process, and reduces their advantages. This will lead to a loose and fraud for a part of the informatiol sent in the rvave. As a result, it rvill be aftected by a noise rvhich leads to deforming and destroying the quality of these images. - T!" synthetic aperture radar (sAR) considered as an effective scanning system for the earth surface. It is operated by using coherent electromagnetic wave (EMtr) which lie in the rang of microwave (MW). The main shortcoming associates with this imaging systenl is the speckle noise (coherent fading), which ii causes by the coherent nature of the EMW. Since sAR images have been founcl as to be an important source ofvisual data found very useful for various applications, therefore, recently, large attention have been devoted to study and enirance this rype of images, In this paper we describes a smoothing scheme applied to SAR images. The result presented of testing the Kuan's speckle reduction filter s,ith u.indorv size (5x5) and (7x7) in order to examine its ability to reduce speckle noise and keep the image feature extraction.

Thennal evaporation method rvas employecl to cleposit magnesiunr f-luoride MgF2_and Zinc Sulfrde (ZnS) as a double layer in the range ( 1.4- 5) ptm. MgF2 was deposited as inner layer ri'ith film thickness of 525.3 nnr and deposition rate of I nnVs while ZnS u,as depositecl as the outer layer rvitlr film thickness 295.3 nm and deposition rate of 0.9nn/s on both sides of i,rtrinsic and extrinsic Si substrate and proved that the rnaximurr transnrittance at 2.9pm increases fi'om Soy'o to 87% fbr irrtrinsic Si srtbstrate, while increases to (68o/o,62Yo,569/o) for extrinsic Si t1,pe rvit[ thickness (0. 5,1,1.5)rtrn-r respectively . Thc toleration of the prepared f-ilnrs was stlrdied using Nc1 - glass laser. systenr outpttt ener-qy l0 .l , PLrlse duration about 300prs by gsing difltrent tests .ln the first test, difTbrent energy densiq' fbr a single slrot 'rvas usecl to clctet'ttiine the darnage tlrreshold whicli rvas about 28.3 Jlcnt, fbr the cloublc Iaycr filnr. In the sccortd tesl ive used the sallc cnel'gy (less than the datrage threshold) but with different number of shots until the daptage threshold was reaclted. Abstract

PbS thin nanocrystalline films were deposited onto glass substrates using such as the chemical bath deposition cgn technique at different solution temper.atures and various deposition times. The other parameters, such as concentration of the reactants and PH were kept constant . The structure was determined by X-ray diffraction anaryses. The films are polycrystalline, very adherent to the substrate and well crystallized according to the centered cubic structure with preferential orientation a long (200). AFM picture of the pbS samples shows a nice uniform growth of the nanocrystals . The dependence of the film thickness and the crystal size with temperature and time deposition has been studied. The influence of thermal treatment under various annealing temperatures on the structure and crystal sizes for some deposited films has been studied.

Abstract

The photoclegraclation oI poly (exo-galactosene-co-styrene) copolymer in clichloromethane and in benzene solution rvas stucliecl using dibenzoyl proxide as photosensitizer. It rvas observed that higher photodegradation rate of the copolymer in dichloromcthane comparecl rvith benzeue solution. Dccreases in relative arrd specitic viscosity rvere also observed in the irradiated triol1,'mcrs rvhere thc viscosity decreased in the prcscnce of dibenzoyl peroxide and benzophc'notrc phtltoscnsitizers ' antl also lritlt increasecl concentration oIdibenzoyl peroxidc with irracliation time ' The photodegradation of poly (exo-galactosene-co-styrcne)) rvas investigated in solid state using u.v.-radiation at tr:313 nm . The photodegradation rate is follow'ed by U.V. using either: I . c6polymer with difl'erent molar ratios of styrene : vinyl sugar : styrene (copolymer I) (l mole : I mole) and (copolymer II) (l mole: 3 mole) 2. Different photosensitizers (dibenzoyl peroxide and benzophenone) 9mL). 3. Ditferent concenrrarions of dibenzoyl peioxide (0.003 and 0.01 g/ml). The copolymers showed a change in U.V. absorption spectra, rvhereas the copolymer showed increased the rate of photodegraded compared rvith polystyrene . The rate of photodegradation of copolymer increases with benzophenone (BPH) and dibenzoyl peroxide (DBP) as photosensitizers, but the increase in the rate of photodegradation is higher rvith benzophenone (BPH) , also the rate of photodegradation is increased rvith increasing the concentration of dibenzoyl peroxide (DBP) photosensitizer . Abstract

In this papeluve will presenting sonle preliminary' analysis on some oi the different aspects irrvolved in modeling the Therrnal Processing in Photonic crystal Fiber (PCF). Initially we present the different scaling larvs fbr the tlber and anazl the diff-erent regimes of heat transf'er to identify the regions where irradiative transport is important. Next lve present thI Mo.te-Carlo ray traci,g method to cletertttine tlte overall absorption in an eccentric annulus. Finally we present.the results tbr the overall absorption in a structrrre rvith multiple holes. Results indicate for black boundaries it was found that the absorptance depended only on the ratio of inner to outer raditts R, t R,, and absorption coefficient r and independent of the offset. For Fresnel boundaries it was found that for small optical thicknesses there was a linear increase in the absorptance lvith offset (for the same radius ratio). The absorptance was almost independent of the offset when r*., (optical thickness) is greater than unity. Therefore, an eccentric annulus can be treated as a concentric annulus provided ^f,., is greater than unity for determining the overall absorption

Abstract

In this paper, it has been str-rdied trre bendi.g erfect on coherent light in the single-mode optical fiber. By using cylinders of different diameter (3, 5 and l0) qn toiLrrn thi optical fiber ten turns about them. we capture image of spot laser fbr each turn by digital camera connected to the computer at short distance (10) cm frorn the end of fiber joined by diode laser its wavelength (630-680) nm . The conclusion that ihe area of spot laser decreases r.vith increasir-rg of the diameter bending of optical fiber. Also, the increasing of the number of turns of the optical fiber led to drop the area of spot laser and decrease the intensiff of spot laser Also, some time it cause perfect vanishing for spot laser (decay of intensity) , it has been accorded for small bending diameter (3) cm at the 6tl' turn and its following turns.

Abstract

Thin films of Bi2 03 vere prepared by using Thcrntal Evaporation System on glass substrate. The films 'vere exposed to a low dose of (.,- rays. The optical properties of thirl t'rlms were studied before and atier irradiation ilr the fundarnental absorption region frorlr their absorption and trarrsmission spectra. The energy gap of direct allorved and forbidden are measLlred also the absorption coefficient, the extinction coefficient, the index of refraction and dielectric constant in its two parts and optical conductivity, were calculated.

Abstract

This study contain. three chapter, the first one is introdtrction in which we reviewed the literatr-rre of 1,3,4- thiadiazole and its derivatives, the second part contain synthesis of ligand (Lr,Lz) and their complexes with rnetal ions (Ag(l), Cd(lI), Cu(ll), Cr(III), Pd(II), Pt(lV)) and the third part deals with results and discussion of this str-rdy where is show resLtlt prepare of ligand (Lr,L:) and their complexes and proved their structure by the element analysis, infra red, electronic spectral data and measurernent of melting point, magnetic moment molar conductance measurement, these result explain that complexes of ligand (L1) have molar ratio (l:l) (L:M) with exception of Pd(ll) complexes which have (2:l) (L:M). also apeared that complexes of (Pt(lV), Cr(llI), Cu(ll)) have octahedral structures and compLexes of ion (pd(ll)) have taken square planer structure. While the tetrahedral structure is suggested for (Cd(ll), Ag(l)) complexes. While the cornple*.r oiligund (L2) have molar ratio different from complexes to another. The result of analysis appeared that complexes of ions (Cu(ll), Cr(tll), P(lV), Cd(ll)) have taken octahedral structure while the complexes of Pd(II) have taken square planer and tetra hedral structure suggested for Ag(I) complex.

Modify Additive Lee's Filter for Filtering images Corrupted by Film Grain Noise

Ttt1i1 contnrolr feature is that the poN'cr of the noise is rcl:rted to thc brightncss of the corrupted pixel. This results in brighter ilreils :rppelring to be noisier than darkcr areils. In tliis pilper,.lvc introduce modify aclditivc noise Lec's filter for filtcring inrages corruptcd by signal depenclent film-gr:rin noise. This by assuming that the noise variilncc not constant over the rvhole image regions, ancl can be estimatcd localll'. Results of Mddify Lee's filter are conlpared w'ith the multiplicatil'e versions Lee's fitter standard, both in terms of subjective and objective measures. The modify Lee's filter provides better noise suppression as inclicatecl by lower normalize mean square error in homogenous image regions and edge regions than the stanclarcl Lee's filter.

The hldrazide tI)'aiiJ'"rt?'iazole (2) subsequently react with various aldehydes and ketones to form Schiffs bases (3-9).
