Abstract

Potential health and environmental effects of nanoparticles need to be thoroughly assessed before their widespread commercialization. The present investigation was planned with the aims to determine the effects of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) onblast (BI) and mitotic (MI) indices of cultured lymphocytes. The results revealed that BI (50.3 ± 2.3, 30.2 ± 1.9, 10.5 ± 0.7 and0.0%, respectively) and MI (70.1 ± 2.9, 20.4 ± 1.1, 5.3 ± 0.1 and 0.0%, respectively) showed a gradual decreased percentageas the concentration of GNPs was increased from 0.085 to 0.66 μg/mL, and the difference was significant compared to controlculture (81.6 ± 2.5 and 90.2 ± 3.7%, respectively). A maximum inhibition of BI and MI was occurred at the concentration 0.66μg/mL. In conclusion, GNPs can be considered as a growth inhibiting agent, but it is too early to reach a final conclusion inthis regard and further investigations are required to elucidate the biochemical mechanisms involved in inhibiting the mitoticactivity of lymphocytes.

Abstract

The stability of cycloalkanes strain energy, branched alkanes and linear alkanes, can be reasonablymodeled using the harmonic index (H), which is commonly defined as H(G)Σ where d(u) denotes thevertex degree of u in graph G. In the current work, public equation is derived to the H index of vertex gluing andcertain graphs.

Abstract

In recent works on the Internet of Vehicles, “intelligent” and “sustainable” have been the significant in the case of transportation. Maintaining sustainability is always a challenge. Sustainability can be achieved not only by the use of pollution-free vehicular systems, but also by maintenance of road traffic safety or prevention of accidents or collisions. Quantifying the sustainability of urban transport is important as evidenced by a growing number of studies to measure sustainability in transportation. This paper dealt with the challenge of measuring transport sustainability based on the long environmental and safety indicators. To overcome the issue of using too many indicators for evaluation, this paper develops a method for obtaining a composite transport sustainability index for limited sources and time for collecting data. Seven sustainability indicators relevant to urban transport which deal with environmental and social (safety) aspects were selected depending on available data. The indicators were integrated to environmental, social (safety) sub-indices and then to a composite index, in a way that overcomes the limitations on normalization, weighting and aggregation. It is an attempt to quantify transport sustainability for arterials streets within the Hilla network which provides information about current situation of urban transport in different parts of the city. The value of ICST (composite index of transport sustainability) for main arterials at Hilla city (as case study) equal to 0.648, 0.542 and 0.462 for 40th, 60th and 80th streets respectively. The value ICST¬ is the highest at 40th street (inner Hilla city – the best case) and the lowest at 80th street (outer Hilla the worst case).

Abstract

Aims: To describe the subjectively perceived symptoms and frequency of the objective signs of the mandibular dysfunction and their severity by using Helkimo index ,age distribution and their relation to sex. Materials and methods: This study includes 450 TMDs patients, who admitted to TMJ clinic at college of dentistry in Mosul City, Helkimo index was used to assess the symptoms and signs of the TMDs and their severity. Results: It was found that TMDs most frequently affected the age group 21– 30 years. TMJ sounds (Clicking and Crepitation) were found as the most frequent symptoms (71.5%) followed by difficulty in opening (29.3%). No sex difference in relation to TMJ sounds was found p>0.05. Impaired TMJ function was the most prevalent sign (82.6%). No sex difference in relation to ITF was found p>0.05. Concerning the distribution of the patients according to Ai (Anamenstic dysfunction index). It was found that 51patients (11.3%) were symptoms free (Ai0), 169 patients (37.5%) reported mild symptoms (AiI) and 230 patients (51.1%) complained from severe symptoms (AiII). No significant sex difference in relation to Ai was found p>0.05. Regarding the distribution of the patients in relation to Di (Clinical dysfunction index). This study reveals that 7 patients (1.5%) were sign free (Di0), 114 patients (25.3%) with mild signs (DiI), 172 patients (38.2%) with moderate signs (DiII)and 157 patients (34.8%) with severe signs (DiIII). No significant sex difference in relation to clinical dysfunction index (Di) p>0.05 was found in this study. Conclusions: The age 21–30 years consider the high risk age group. The TMJ sounds were the most frequent symptoms. Severe symptoms (Ai II) and signs (DiIII) represents high percentages (51.1%) and (34.4%) respectively in a patients with TMDs in Mosul City.
