Abstract

Machining of hard metal is difficult by conventional method to obtain high accuracy where the dimensional accuracy is the main factor. Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) extensively used, which is mostly used in machining of conductive materials by using precisely controlled sparks that occur between a very thin wire and a workpiece in the presence of a dielectric fluid. This study serves in studying surface roughness (SR) of high speed steel (HSS) using taguchi method to design the experiment, this was achieved with utilizing different wire cut machining parameters and study the behavior of these control parameters such as pulse duration (μs), pulse interval (μs), Servo feed and Servo voltage (V) on surface roughness. It can be noticed that when servo voltage and servo feed increase the surface roughness decreases and when pulse duration and pulse interval increase the surface roughness increases too, and It was found with using taguchi parameter design that the best machining variables of combination setting is Servo Voltage (22) volts, Pulse on time (110) μs, servo feed (450) mm/min and Pulse off time (30) μs to reach to the minimum value of surface roughness and hence better surface finish.

Abstract

This paper attempted to study the effect of cutting parameters (spindle speed and feed rate) on delamination phenomena during the drilling glass-polyester composites. Drilling process was done by CNC machine with 10 mm diameter of high-speed steel (HSS) drill bit. Taguchi technique with L16 orthogonal layout was used to analyze the effective parameters on delamination factor. The optimal experiment was no. 13 with spindle speed 1273 rpm and feed 0.05 mm/rev with minimum delamination factor 1.28.

يحاول هذا البحث دراسة تأثير متغيرات التشغيل (سرعة عمود الدوران ومعدل التغذية) على الانفصال الطبقي اثناء عملية تثقيب مواد مركبة من ألياف زجاجية - بوليستر.وقد أجريت عملية التثقيب باستخدام ماكنة مبرمجة باستخدام بريمه بقطر 10 ملم مصنعة من صلب السرعات العالية.واستخدمت طريقة تاكوشي بتوزيعL16 لتحليل العوامل المؤثرة على الانفصال الطبقي الحاصل اثناء تثقيب ألياف زجاجية - بوليستر. وتعد التجربة الامثل هي 13 بسرعة عمود دوران تصل الى 1273 دوره بالدقيقة وبتغذية تصل الى 0.05ملم/ دورة مع 1.28 كحد ادنى من معامل الانفصال الطبقي.

Abstract

The aim of the presents study was to investigates the influence of different sliding velocity 1.4, 2.8, 4.2 m/sec, applied load 5, 10, N and time 10, 20, 30 min on wear rate of Al-Mg-Si alloy reinforced with varying weight fraction of TiO₂/SiC 1.5:0 ,3:0 , 4.5:0 , 0:1.5 , 0:3 , 0:4.5 , 1.5:1.5 , 3:3 , 4.5:4.5 wt.% with the same particle size (>75μm) by using pin-on-disk techniques. In this research Al-Mg-Si alloy TiO₂/SiC hybrid composites was prepared by vortex technique. The primary objective is to use taguchi method for predicting the better parameter that give the highest wear resistance. A L9 orthogonal array was selected for each present to analysis of data and use ANOVA to determine parameters significantly influencing the wear rate of hybrid composite. Optical microscope and SEM with EDS examination were utilized to study the worn surface. The experimental and analytical results showed that the taguchi method was successful in predicting the parameters that give the highest properties and the volume fraction was the most influential parameter on the wear rate. The results demonstrated that when the applied load and time increased the wear rate increasing, but when the sliding velocity increased the wear rate decreasing and showed the minimum wear in hybrid composite with 4.5% reinforcement this observed with highest ratio of S/N 156.787.

Abstract

Friction stir welding (FSW) is proved as a promising welding technology for joining dissimilar aluminium alloys. Aluminium alloys are used extensively within the aerospace industry for applications such as fuselage and wing skin panels due to their high strength to weight ratio. Therefore, an effort is made to optimize the process parameters of FSW using Al 6061 and Al 7075 alloys by the Minitab 16 program in order to enhance tensile properties such as elongation (E), yield stress (YS), and ultimate tensile strength (UTS). Grey relational analysis (GRA) based on the Taguchi method is applied using two factors tool rotational speeds (TRS) and welding speed (WS)with four levels. Results show that the variables, namely the tool rotation speed and welding speed have a significant effect on yield stress, ultimate tensile strength and elongation. Results also show that the Taguchi based grey relational approach improved properties of output response of welded Al 6061 and Al 7075 aluminum alloys.

لحام الخلط الاحتكاكي هو تكنولوجيا واعدة لربط سبائك الألومنيوم غير المتشابهة. سبائك الالمنيوم تستخدم بصورة شائعة في صناعات الفضاء مثل ابدان الطائرات والالواح والأجنحة نظرا لمتانتهالعالية نسبه الى وزنه. لذلك هنالك محاوله للوصول الى أمثليه متغيرات عمليه اللحام الاحتكاكي عند لحام سبيكتين منالالمنيوم هما6061و7075باستخدام برنامجMinitab 16 من اجل تحسين خصائص الشد مثل اجهاد الخضوع (YS)ومتانةالشد القصوى(UTS) ونسبة الاستطالة(E) . طريقهTaguchi استخدمتكأساسلتحليل العلاقةالرمادية(GRA)باستخدام عاملينهماسرعه دوران الاداة (TRS) وسرعه اللحام (WS بأربع مستويات. النتائج اظهرت ان المتغيرات التي هي سرعه دوران الاداة وسرعه اللحام لها تأثير كبير على اجهاد الخضوع ومتانة الشد القصوى ونسبة الاستطالة.كما اظهرت النتائج ان طريقه Taguchi المستخدمة كأساس لتحليل العلاقة الرماديةتحسن المخرجاتلسبيكتي الالمنيوم 60617075الملحومتان.
