Abstract

In this study, thin films of ZnTe were deposited on glass substrates usingvacuum evaporation technique. The optical measurements on the deposited filmswere performed to determine the transmission spectrum and the absorption spectraas a function of incident wavelength. As well, optical parameters, such asextinction coefficient, value and type of energy gap, type of the dominantabsorption processes, real and complex refractive index as functions of incidentphoton energy, were determined. This study may present better understanding forthe optical properties of ZnTe thin films and their devices in order to enhance theircharacteristics and improve their efficiencies.

على قواعد (ZnTe) في هذا البحث، جرى ترسيب أغشية رقيقة من تيلورايد الخارصينزجاجية باستخدام تقنية التبخير الحراري في الفراغ. أجريت القياسات البصرية على الأغشيةالمرسبة لتحديد طيف النفاذية والامتصاصية كدالة للطول الموجي الساقط ومن ثم تحديدالمعاملات البصرية مثل معامل الامتصاص ومعامل التخميد وقيمة ونوع فجوة الطاقة وعملياتالامتصاص وقيمة معامل الانكسار المركب. هذه الدراسة يمكن أن تقدم فهمًا أفضل للخواصالبصرية لأغشية تيلورايد الخارصين الرقيقة ونبائطها من أجل تحسين خصائصها وزيادة حدودالكفاءة لها.

Abstract

Thin films of ZnTe have been prepared by the method of chemical spray pyrolysis.The absorption and transmissions spectra are recorded in the range 400-900nm.Thespectral dependences of absorption coefficient were calculated from transmissionspectra. The allowed direct and optical band gap energy has been evaluated from(αhν)2 vs. (hν) plots. The optical constants such as extinction coefficient(k)andrefractive index (n) have been evaluated.

تم تحضيرالأغشيةالرقيقة لتولارايد الزنك بطريقة الرش الكيميائي الحراري.سجلت أطياف النفاذية900 نانومتر.تم حساب معامل الامتصاص من طيف النفاذية .وتم - والامتصاصية ضمن المدى 400تم .(hν) مع (αhν) حساب فجوة الطاقة البصرية المباشرةوالمسموحة من خلال منحني تغير 2.(n) ومعامل الانكسار (k) حساب الثوابت البصرية مثل معامل الخمود

Abstract

Thin multilayer graded semiconducting, inorganic, metallic oxides films have wide applications such as optical designs and microelectronics industry. Knowledge of the refractive indices nf(λ) and of such films their dispersion are important. This paper is aimed to present an overview on the different methods that have been devised for the determination of the index of refraction of thin films along with their theoretical basis. Such methods are Abeles, Swanepoel, Kramers-Kronig, Ellipsometer, and others. Some experimental results are also presented. The accuracy of these methods is evaluated.
