تساعد منهجية six sigma على تقليل العيوب من خلال حل المشكلات بفاعلية ، ويعمل Lean على تقليل الضياعات من خلال انسياب العملية التصنيعية وعند دمج هاتين المنهجيتين (Lean و( six sigma، فان منهجية Lean six sigma ستشكل مدخل تنظيمي لعملية التحسين وزيادة الجودة وتقليل اوقات الانتظار والتكاليف. من خلال التركّيز على تلبية احتياجات الزبون، وهذه العملية تستخدم الأدوات والتقنيات الإحصائية لتحليل وتحسين العمليات . لقد اجري هذا البحث في الشركة العامة للصناعات الكهربائية واعتمد منتجها ( براد الماء ثلاث حنفيات) كعينة للبحث ، بهدف تحديد المنافع المتحققه من تطوير المنتج وفقا لـ Lean Six Sigma . عند استخدامها في تطوير المنتج الجديد (وقت التطوير وسرعة وصول المنتج للسوق) وتشخيص التاثيرات الايجابية او السلبية الذي يتركه تكامل منهج (Six Sigma) و (Lean) على المنتج الجديد عند تطويره في ظلهما . توصل البحث الى مجموعة من الاستنتاجات من بينها ان استخدام دورة التصميم (DMADV) في تطوير المنتج يعطي مجالا واسعا امام المعنيين الى تنظيم عملية التطوير بشكل يمكنهم من استغلال المعلومات المتولدة من كل مرحلة من مراحل دورة التصميم في المراحل اللاحقة . كما يمكن تحديد العوامل الاكثر اهمية الواجب معالجتها لتجاوز اسباب فشل المنتج .
