The current research aims to identify the relationship between the lateral thinking and motivation towards the Arabic language material to the students of middle school and to achieve this goal, the researchers apply the test of lateral thinking and a measure of motivation to learn the material rules on the research sample of (921) students from fifth grade literary in day secondary and prep schools Directorate-General for Education in Salahuddin province during the first semester of the academic year 2015-2016.Current research has come to several results, most notably the presence of a statistically significant positive relationship at the level (0.05) between the lateral thinking and motivation toward substance rules in general the fifth grade literature students, and in the light of this, the researcher recommends the development of some of the topics that will help the development of lateral thinking about the best in all stages of education and provide an exciting learning environment, and the attention to the intellectual and emotional learner.
