Abstract

The present work is aimed to reduce the annual electric energy consumption in a residential building in Basrah city through introducing a standardized rule for the annual electrical consumption for the cooling and heating purposes.This work will concentrate on all parameters which help to go toward the optimum use of thermally efficient house. The building energy analysis program e-Quest was used to simulate the annual energy consumption for a typical residential house built with different types of building materials. Transfer function cooling load calculation was used.The results showed that for the Base- House, the thermal transmission through the walls and roof constitutes more than half of the total peak cooling load. It was found that a house built with thermo-stone causes 5.9% reduction of the annual cooling energy consumption, and 12.4% in the annual heating energy consumption. However, insulating the Base- House causes a significant reduction in the air conditioning equipment capacity and consequently reduction in cooling energy consumption by 23%, and reduces the heating energy consumption by 42.8%. Finally this work presents a useful planning to developed building design which reduces the electrical energy consumption

Abstract

This study investigates numerically and experimentally the environmental conditionsprevailing in a large mechanically ventilated athletic hall, with the aid of the computationalfluid dynamics by ANSYS 15 program. The indoor space of the building was simulated in theANSYS 15 program environment and the model results were validated against experimentaldata collected during a 7-day campaign in the hall. The measurements included airflowcharacteristics at different locations of the indoor space, as well as surface temperatures of theindoor materials. Having obtained good agreement between experimental and numericalresults, different scenarios were applied in the model to investigate the environmentalconditions prevailing in the hall under different ventilation and occupational conditions. Theseregard air-conditioning and cooling modes, as well as empty and full hall during an athleticevent. The velocity, temperature and relative humidity were studied and results revealeddynamic behavior of the fields, significantly altering with the different considered cases.

هذه الدراسة تتحرى بشكل عددي و تجريبي الشروط البيئية التي تسود في قاعة رياضية كبيرة و مكيفة ميكانيكيا ، وتتم هذهالهندسي ، الفضاء الداخلي للبناية تم ) ANSYS ضمن برنامج ) 15 ) CFD ( الدراسة بواسطة ديناميك السوائل الحسابيةو ان النتائج العددية النموذجية في البرنامج تم مطابقتها و تصديقها مع البيانات ) ANSYS بنائه بواسطة برنامج ) 15التجريبية التي جمعت اثناء حملة سبعة أيام في القاعة الرياضية ، تضمنت المقاييس خصائص التيار الهوائي في المواقعالمختلفة من الفضاء الداخلي بالإضافة الى درجات الحرارة السطحية من المواد الداخلية وقد حصل التوافق الجيد بين النتائجالتجريبية و العددية ، المخططات المختلفة طبقت في النموذج لتحري الشروط البيئية التي تسود في القاعة تحت التهويةالمختلفة و الشروط المهنية ، التي تتعلق بأنماط التبريد المختلفة بالإضافة الى القاعة الفارغة والكاملة اثناء الحدث الرياضي، تم دراسة سرعة التيار الهوائي و درجة الحرارة والرطوبة النسبية بشكل ملحوظ في الحالات المدروسة المختلفة
