Abstract

Abstract: This paper attempts to tune any controller without the knowledge of mathematical model for the system to be controlled. For that purpose, the optimization algorithm of MATLAB / Nonlinear Control Design Blockset (NCD) is adapted for On-line tuning for controller parameters. To present the methodology, a PID controller is verified with the physical plant using the engine speed control System where the problem of maintaining the engine idle speed at a reference value with the applied load is studied. A Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) Controller is used to solve this problem, but to get the best controller parameters the (NCD) Blockset is used for tuning the PID parameters. Simulation shows promising results in the idle speed response by comparing NCD tuning results with the trial and error results. The analytical results are carried out MATLAB / SIMULINK.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to design a model predictive controller (MPC) to improve the performance of electric furnace system to the desired requirements. The presence of delay in the system especially, the long delays makes analysis and control design much more complex. Unlike time delay compensation methods, the predictions are made formore than one time delay ahead in the MPC since the Future values of output variables are predicted using a dynamic model of the system and current measurements. From the analyzed and compared results it is noticed that the system response with MPC shows high tracking performance in transient and steady state.

Abstract

In this paper the design of an optimal PID controller for single and double axis piezoelectric micropositioning stage system is presented. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method is used to tune the parameters of the PID controller subject to specific objective function. The proposed controller provides a high performance trajectory tracking responses of the piezoelectric micropositioner stage.A simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed controlalgorithm.
