Abstract

Image enhancement techniques aim to improve the quality of images. In field of medical image processing, low contrast is considered as one of the main and most important issues. As Histogram Equalization (HE) is an effective and simple technique, it is widely used as contrast enhancement. In this paper, efficient method to enhance the quality of medical images has been proposed. This method depends on Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) to decompose an input image as the first step. HE and contrast stretching were carried out on the results of DWT separately. Adaptive Histogram Equalization (AHE) was applied on the main part that is resulted from DWT. Contrast stretching was applied on the remaining parts. The results that been gotten showed goodness and efficiency of the proposed method.

تحسين الصور الملونة الملتقطة تحت الماء باستخدام تقنية تمديد التباين بالاعتماد على توازن اللون الابيض وتحويل YIQ

Abstract

In this study a new algorithm has been suggested to enhance images capture underwater by using Contrast Stretching technique and YIQ transform. White balance has been applier on the RGB Components, Then enhanced lighting using function sigmoid, the lightness componential and the chromatic component have been processing alone after white balance (w) is applied and Contrast Stretching (CS) for RGB Components, and to know the efficiency this method it account of the quality of those images by using the scale (μ ,σ), and after comparing them with method Contrast Stretching for Components RGB, and the method Contrast Stretching on those Components after a white balance as well as compared to the same method without work for white color balance. Results showed that the suggested algorithm gives good results in light enhancement and contrast at taked the white balance if we transform to YIQ or not.

في هذه الدراسة تم اقتراح خوارزمية جديدة لتحسين الصور الملتقطة تحت الماء باعتماد تقنية تمديد التباين بوساطة تحويلYIQ حيث تم تطبيق توازن اللون الأبيض لمركبات RGB، ثم حسنت الاضاءة باستخدام دالة السكمويد, وتمت معالجة مركبة الاضاءة Y على حده والمركبة اللونية IQ على حده. بعد تطبيق تقنية تمديد التباين لمركبات RGB وتوازن اللون الأبيض ولمعرفة كفاءة هذه الطريقة تم حساب الجودة لتلك الصور باعتماد على مقياس (μ،σ) وبعد قياسها بطريقة تمديد التباين لمركبات RGB وطريقة تمديد التباين على تلك المركبات بعد اجراء توازن اللون الأبيض وكذلك قورنت نفس الطريقة بدون عمل توازن اللون الأبيض. أظهرت النتائج أن خوارزمية المقترحة تعطي نتائج جيدة في تحسين الاضاءة والتباين عند أخذ توازن اللون الأبيض بوجود التحويل YIQ وبدونه.
