This study aimed at finding out the personality traits of private school principals in Jeddah school district in The Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia, and their relationship to principals’ leadership styles. Two instruments were used: Eysenck Personality Questionnaire to measure personality traits of principals, and a questionnaire developed by the researcher to measure the leadership styles. The study found that the prevailed personality traits of private school principals was Extroversion and the prevailed leadership style practiced by principals was the democratic style. The study also found set of relationships as: a significant positive relationship between democratic style and extroversion, between autocratic style and neuroticism and psychoticism traits, a negative relationship between the autocratic style and extroversion.Finally, there was no significant relationship between Laissez-faire style and neuroticism, psychoneurosis and lying style.

هدفت الدراسة تعرف سمات الشخصية لمديري المدارس الأهلية في منطقة جدة ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة تم استخدام أداتين الأولى استخبار أيزنك لقياس سمات الشخصية، والثانية إستبانة تم بناؤها لقياس الأنماط القيادية. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن السمة الغالبة لمديري المدارس هي سمة الانبساط كما وأظهرت النتائج أن النمط القيادي السائد لهؤلاء المديرين هو النمط الديموقراطي وأظهرت النتائج وجود علاقة إرتباطية إيجابية مرتفعة بين النمط القيادي الديموقراطي وسمة الانبساط ووجود علاقة إرتباطية إيجابية بين النمط الأوتوقراطي وسمات العصابية والذهانية،فضلاً عن وجود علاقة إرتباطية سلبية مقبولة بين النمط القيادي الأوتوقراطي وسمة الانبساط، ولم تكن هناك علاقة إرتباطية دالة إحصائياً بين النمط القيادي الترسلي وسمات الذهانية والعصابية والكذب.

The teaching profession requires certain personal characteristics of those who carried out. Personality consists of the total physical and mental qualities and moods, social and moral. All of these qualities when meet in teacher in positive way, help him much to success in his teaching profession. That is because of the important role of teachers in preparing students for life and professional process.

تتطلب مهنة التدريس سمات شخصية معينة في من يقوم بها، فالشخصية تتألف من جملة الصفات الجسمية والعقلية والمزاجية والاجتماعية والخلقية، وكل هذه الصفات عندما تجتمع في المدرس بشكلها الإيجابي، فإنها تساعده كثيرا على نجاحه في مهنة التعليم، ذلك لما للمدرس من دور مهم في إعداد الطلبة وتهيئتهم للحياة المهنية والعملية. وبما أن مهنة التدريس تسبق المهن الأخرى بالتدخّل في تكوين شخصية الأفراد جميعا قبل أن يصلوا إلى سن التخصّص في أي مهنة، فجميع أفراد المجتمع الذين يتولون مسؤولياته في شتى الميادين لا شكّ قد اصطبغوا بشخصيات معلميهم وأساتذتهم وبالقيّم التي غرسوها فيهم، ومن هنا كان الحرص على حسن اختيار المدرس الجيّد الذي يتمتّع بسمات شخصية تساعده كثيرا على التوافق مع مهنته وأداء عمله بنجاح.
