Abstract

Ratawi Field is a promising hydrocarbon bearing structure conforming several reservoirs, and lies northwest of the Basrah city and west of Northern Rumaila Field. Kinetic Analysis referred to that the type of Fold of Ratawi Structure similar to the types which are associated with Salt Structure activity.Geophysical Interpretation referred to the presence of Salt Structure beneath Ratawi Structure. The Isopach Maps shows that the crest thickness is less than the limbs, this characteristics is always due to those of salt structures beneath Ratawi field. Both of Tectonic Movement and Salt Structure play a great role in forming and development of Ratawi Structure.

حقل الرطاوي هو تركيب واعد حامل للهيدروكربونات ومتعدد المكامن . يقع حقل رطاوي النفطي في جنوبي العراق , شمال غرب مدينة البصرة وغرب حقل الرميلة الشمالي . اشار التحليل الحركي الى ان التركيب مشابه لنوع التراكيب التي تكون مصاحبة لنشاط التراكيب الملحية , اشارت المعلومات الجيوفيزيائية الى وجود التركيب الملحي تحت تركيب الرطاوي . من جانب اخر فان تفسير خرائط السماكة للتكاوين المختارة اشار الى وجود اختلاف في السمك بين القمة والاجنحة , وبصورة عامة لوحظ ان سمك القمة اقل من سمك الاجنحة في هذا التركيب والذي يحتمل انه تكون نتيجة تأثير التراكيب الملحية . يبدو ان كلا من الحركات التكتونية ونشاط التركيب الملحي قد لعب دورا كبيرا في نشوء وتطور تركيب رطاوي

Abstract

Nahr Umr oil field is one of the important productive southern Iraqi oil fields. This study focuses on the type of fold and faults of the Nahr Umr oil field. A structural analysis (geometric and genetic analyses) performed to identify its type, origin and to find its relevance to main regional tectonic events. The structural classifications employed well and geophysical data through using structure contour maps, cross sections, and seismic section. The structural analysis inferred that fold of Nahr Umr oil field classified as antiform, upright, non-plunge, gentle, supratenous, dome feature, and asymmetrical. The limbs are unequal whereas the length of left limb shorter than the right limb and its dip is greater than right limb. In addition, the thickness of crest is less than the thickness of limbs. Pattern of faults classified as compound, parallel, conjugates and radial with graben structure and these faults concentrated on crest of fold. The fold axis is almost N-S at early cretaceous and then clearly turns to NW-SE and this may due to counterclockwise rotation of Arabian plate. Geophysical interpretations and results of structural analysis stated that Nahr Umr oil field formed by three combined forces which are tectonic movements, reactivated basement, and salt structures.
