Abstract

This study presents a speed control design for switchedreluctance motor (SRM) drive based on PID controller. Theapplications of Switched Reluctance Motors (SRMs) have beingincreased day by day, but this type of motors represents a highlynonlinear system, therefore there are a lot of difficulties inmodeling and controlling them. We have proposed a non-linearmathematical model of a four phases 8/6 poles SRM thensimulated it through Simulink/Matlab facilities. The wholecontrol mechanism consists of a hysteresis current controller tominimize the torque ripple and a PID speed controller. Thecontrol design results are then validated in real-time bySimulink/Matlab software package.

Abstract

This paper presents simulation results for three phase, 6/4 poles switched reluctancemotor (SRM) by using particle swarm optimization (PSO) method for formative theoptimal proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller tuning parameters.Theproposed approach has superior feature, including easy implementation, stableconvergence characteristics and very good computational performances efficiency.The main focus of this paper is to investigate the dynamic performance of switchedreluctance (SR) motors. This investigation is achieved through simulation usingMATLAB/SIMULINK. Digital simulation results show that the designed (PSO) havea good dynamic behaviour of the motor, a perfect speed tracking with no overshootand a good rejection of impact loads disturbance. The results of applying the (PSO)mode controller to a SRM give best performances and high robustness than thoseobtained by the application of others controller. The obtained results of the closed loopPSO-PID response shows excellent performance with respect to the PID controller.

Abstract

Aligned and unaligned inductances of SRM are needed for modeling and simulation program. Two simple methods have been suggested in this research to measure value of these inductances. It has been compared between two method depending on the shape of the motor current taken practically with the simulation current after compensating the value of the inductance in the simulation model and chose the most accurate method to measure the inductance. The values of the aligned and unaligned inductance in both methods in sequence are (101, 70, 74.5, 59.5). Through compensation the inductance values in the simulation model and compare the performance of this model with the practical performance, it was reached that the first test the nearest 93% of the practical value compared with the second test, which reaches matching ratio to 79%.The specification motor used was: type motor-SRM80L, Power rated=550watt, Number of phases=4, Number of poles 8 in stator and 4 in rotor, rated speed=1000rpm, rated torque=5N.m, rated current=4.5A, Driver AC=230v, Motor DC=285v.

لتمثيل المحرك المعاوقي المفتاحي حاسوبياً نحتاج لحساب قيمة المحاثة المصطفة وغير المصطفة. تم في هذا البحث اقتراح طريقتين مبسطتين للقياس. تمت المقارنة بين الطريقتين بالاعتماد على شكل تيار المحرك المأخوذ عملياً مع تيار نموذج التمثيل بعد تعويض قيم المحاثة في نموذج التمثيل الحاسوبي واختيار الطريقة الادق للقياس. وكانت القيم التي تم الحصول عليها من الفحصين و لكل من المحاثة المصطفة وغير المصطفة وعلى الترتيب (101 , 70 , 74,5 , 59,5) ملي هنري. ومن خلال تعويض قيم المحاثات في النموذج الحاسوبي ومقارنة اداء هذا النموذج مع الاداء العملي, تم التوصل الى ان الفحص الاول اقرب بنسبة 93% من القيمة العملية مقارنة مع الفحص الثاني والتي تصل نسبة التطابق الى 79% , وكانت مواصفات المحرك المستخدم من نوع SRM80L ذو قدرة مقننة 550 واط و 4 اطوار وعدد اقطاب الساكن 8 وعدد اقطاب الدوار 6 والسرعة المقننة للمحرك كانت 1000 دورة/دقيقة والعزم المقنن 5 نيوتن.متر والتيار المقنن 4.5 امبير وكانت فولتية المسوقDriver AC تساوي230 فولت وفولتية المحرك Motor DC تساوي 285 فولت.
