Abstract

The main purpose of the present investigation is enhancing heattransfer rate in a tube heat exchanger by using V-shape twisted Jaws. Theair is used as a working fluid and pumped through the test section withdifferent values of Reynolds number (6000 - 19500), while the heat flux hasbeen selected as a constant boundary condition around the tube section. Inthis study, two type of twisted jaw turbulators are used with two twistedratio (TR= 2 & 4) as well as, the effect of using different numbers ofturbulators (N= 6, 8 and 10) inside test section with equal distancesbetween pieces are studied. The results indicated that, using augmentationswith TR=2 gives better heat transfer rate and thermal performance factorcomparing with the other case TR=4. The maximum rate of heat transfer isachieved in case of N=10 by an increased 160.29% for TR=2 and 102% forTR=4 comparing with plain tube case. In addition, results show that thevalues of thermal performance factor exceed the unity and shows uptrendbehavior with rising numbers of turbulators indicating to feasibility of usingthese turbulators practically.

Abstract

In this paper presents two dimensional turbulent flow of different nanofluids and ribs configuration in a circular tube have been numerically investigation using FLUENT 6.3.26. Two samples of CuO and, ZnO nanoparticles with 2% v/v concentration and 40 nm as nanoparticle diameter combined with trapezoidalribs with aspect ratio of p/d=5.72 in a constant tube surface heat flux were conducted for simulation. The results showed that heat flow as Nusselt number for all cases raises with Reynolds number and volume fraction of nanofluid, likewise the results also reveal that ZnO with volume fractions of 2% in trapezoidal ribs offered highest Nusselt number at Reynolds number of Re= 30000.

في هذا البحث تم دراسة تأثيرالجريان المضطرب للموائع النانوية في انبوب دائري ذي النتوءات ثنائية الأبعاد عدديا باستخدام برنامجFLUENT 6.3.26 .تم أستخدام نموذجين الجسيمات النانوية كأوكسيد الزنك وأوكسيد النحاس بتركيز حجمي يصل الى %2 و 40 نانومتر قطر الجسيمات النانوية في انبوب ذي نتوؤات بشكل شبه منحرف نسبةطول ضلع النتوء الى قطر الأنبوبتصل الى p / d = 5.72تحت تدفق ثابت للحرارة السطحية للمحاكاة. وأظهرت النتائج أن تدفق الحرارة عددا نسلت لجميع الحالات يزداد بزيادة رينولدز وبتركيز الحجمي للموائع النانوية كما أظهرت النتائج أيضا أن أوكسيد الزنك بتركيز حجمي يصل الى %2 في انبوب ذو نتوؤات بشكل شبه منحرف أعلى قيمة مع حجم الكسور من 2٪ في الأضلاع شبه منحرف عرضت أعلى لعدد النسلت عندما يصل عدد رينولدز الى 30000.
