The Use of Elements of Film Expression and their Role in Narrative Transitions

Abstract

Many studies and researches related to the audio and visual medium have shed light on the creative process that has taken place through them as well as the aesthetic and artistic creation and have dealt with many fields of knowledge and creativity in this field of art, which managed to study and follow its intellectual and technical tools for creating achievements through this medium, in its forefront come the elements of the cinematic language, which is characterized by possessing multiple features of aesthetic and semantic employment to reach the recipient as it is a tool of the artistic expression that gives the material it deals with aesthetic and intellectual dimensions from various aspects. "The artistic expression cannot be achieved except through a substance in order to turn into that stimulant or sensory stimulant, and in this way it can be the pronunciation or the sound or the movement or the stones ... etc. But the raw material does not acquire an artistic nature turning into an aesthetic material until the artist's hand extends to it creating from it an aesthetic sense (As-Sayyid, 2008: p 46). The problem of the research is the role of elements of cinematic expression in the narrative transitions within the structure of cinema and television work, and the differences between them remain according to the nature of the artistic treatment. The research consists of three sections the first is entitled the transitions as narrative ways, while the second is entitled the film narrative construction and the narrative perspective. The third section is entitled the Narration and the Expression. The research sample was the film (The English Patient). The film scenario was written and directed by Anthony Minghella 1996. The researcher reached a number of results and the most prominent of which was the manifestation of the relationship between the narrative structure of the film and the novel perspective through an implicit relationship as a set of juxtapositions and mutual directions between the art of the film and the art of the novel.

ان الكثير من الدراسات والبحوث المتعلقة بالوسيط السمعي والمرئي قد ألقت الضوء على العملية الإبداعية التي تتم عبره والخلق الجمالي والفني من خلاله وقد تناولت العديد من مجالات المعرفة والإبداع المتنوعة في هذا الحقل من حقول الفن التي استطاعت الغور فيه وتتبع أدواته الفكرية والتقنية من اجل خلق وانجازات عبر هذا الوسيط وفي مقدمتها تأتي عناصر اللغة السينمائية والتي تتميز بامتلاكها سمات متعددة للتوظيف الجمالي والدلالي للوصول إلى المتلقي بعدها أداة تعبيرية فنية تمنح المادة التي تتعامل معها أبعادا جمالية وفكرية ومن جوانب متعددة. "أن التعبير الفني لا يمكن تحققه ألا عبر مادة ما لكي تتحول إلى ذلك المثير أو المنبه الحسي ، ويستوي في ذلك أن تكون هي اللفظ أم الصوت أم الحركة أم الحجارة ...الخ ولكن المادة الخام لا تكتسب صبغة فنية فتصبح مادة استطيقية ، ألا بعد أن تكون يد الفنان قد امتدت أليها فخلقت منها محسوسا جماليا "(السيد ،2008، ص46) وتتمثل مشكلة البحث في دور عناصر التعبير الفيلمي في الانتقالات السردية ضمن بنية العمل السينمائي والتلفزيوني وتبقى الفروقات بينهما حسب طبيعة المعالجة الفنية ؟ متضمنا ثلاثة مباحث الأول منها بعنوان الانتقالات بوصفها طرق سردية فيما كان الثاني بعنوان البناء السردي الفيلمي والمنظور الروائي وكان الثالث بعنوان السرد والتعبير وكانت عينة البحث فيلم المريض الإنكليزي سيناريو وإخراج انطوني مينغلا 1996وتوصل الباحث الى مجموعة من النتائج كان من ابرزها تتجسد العلاقة بين البناء السردي للفيلم والمنظور الروائي من خلال علاقة ضمنية كمجموعة من المتجاورات والاتجاهات المتبادلة بين فن الفيلم وفن الرواية.

An evaluation of the Film–Based and Digital Panoramic Radiographic Quality

Abstract

Aims: To compare the image quality of panoramic radiographs obtained with charge–coupled device
(CCD) and screen–film systems. Materials and methods: True Panoramic radiographs were taken in
26 patients each with both screen–film and CCD systems. The images were obtained with TRATO
2000, CE by VILLA SISTEMI MEDICALIS–ITALY with regular intensifying screen type
Kodak Lanex and 6 x 12 inch screen type film used for film–based projection, while Dimax3
digital system pan/ceph, PLANMECA, Helsinki, Finland with CCD X–ray image sensor (the
size of the panoramic sensor was 15 x 30 cm and the resolution of the panoramic image was around
230 dpi, used for digital projection. Both X–ray machines were operated at range of 70–80
kV and 10–12 mA, according to the patient age. Altogether, the digital images files were
displayed on 17 inch monitor, brightness and contrast were fixed and no enhancement was
made before the digital images files were saved. While the film–based images after processing
were viewed on the viewer box. Image quality was assessed by rating the visibility
of five anatomical landmarks commonly found on panoramic radiographs: The superior and
inferior cortex of the mandibular canal, the superior and inferior margin of the mental
foramen, the lower and anterior border of the maxillary sinus, the lower border of the
mandible, and the articular eminence. For each image, the given landmark was rated as good
(image of excellent diagnostic quality), acceptable (image of diagnostic quality but should
be improved), or unacceptable (image not of diagnostic quality). Each image was then given
an overall evaluation rating of good, acceptable, or unacceptable. Results: The data collected
from the evaluation of the digital and film–based images by the three examiners, were analyzed
by t–test. The image quality, as represented by each of the five anatomical landmarks,
and the overall rating for each system were expressed as the mean scores of the three
examiners. The difference between the film–based and the digital images systems was not statistically
significant (P>0.05). Conclusions: It was concluded that digital panoramic radiographs are equivalent
to film–based images for the five anatomical landmarks.

Densitometric evaluation of E-speed film with three different developing solutions

Abstract

Background: In order to determine the influence of different solutions on the quality of the radiograph, the purpose of this study is to have a comparison between solutions to see the best one produce radiographs of highly diagnostic ability.Material and method: An aluminum step wedge was radiograph with E-Speed periapical films of the films were developed in three different processing solutions at standardized conditions according to manufacture’s instructions data concerning film density, contrast, fog and speed film. Each film solution combination was compiled in attempted to evaluate optimal film –solution combination.Results: In present study better contrast and less film fog obtained with technique C solution, for film speed, higher speed values indicate lower exposure time to patient.Conclusion: The rapid processing solution deteriorated faster and need less processing time than conventional solutions

Abstract

ABSTRACTObjective: To assess the degree of tear film stability in eyes with pingueculae and ptergia in patients from Mosul. Patients and methods: Case-control study from private clinic and Al-Jamhori Teaching Hospital during a period of one year from Feb 2009.Tear break-up time were measured in 36 eyes with pterygia, and 37 eyes with pingueculae, compared to control group of 37 eyes.Results: The mean tear break-up time (TBUT) was 11.1±3.6 sec. in the eyes with pingueculae & 11.4±6 sec. in the eyes with pterygium compared to 15±4.5 sec in the control group. Unstable tear film (TBUT less than 10 secs.) was found in 17 (47.2%) eyes with pterygia, compared to 13 (35.1%) eyes with pingueculue and 7 (18.9%) control eyes. Unstable tear film was significantly associated with eyes with pterygia.Conclusion: Unstable tear film is associated more with pterygia than with pingueculae, other factors as environmental and racial ones should be evaluated.

الخلاصةالهدف: تقييم درجة استقرار الدمع في المرضى المصابين بالظفرة والشحمية العينية.التصميم: تحليل الحالة الضابطة.المكان: المستشفى الجمهوري التعليمي بالموصل والعيادة الخاصة.المشاركون: 36 مريضا مصاب بالظفرة العينية 37 بالشحمية العينية ومقارنتها مع 37 عين طبيعية.النتائج: وجد ان نسبة الدمع غيرالمستقر 35,1% من مرضى الشحمية العينية, 47,2% من مرضى الظفرة مقارنة بـ 18,9% في العيون الطبيعية وأن له أهمية إحصائية.الاستنتاج :عدم إستقرار دمع العين له علاقة بتكوين او بوجود الظفرة والشحمية العينية.

Abstract

In this research, the study effect irradiation on structural and optical properties of film (PVA: CuO) bycastingmethod, with thickness of( 20±1) µm. And used Cs137to obtained Gamma ray with energy(662)KeV and time irradiation(50)h and affectivity (4.3)ci.The investigation of (XRD) indicates that the (PVA: CuO) films are polycrystalline. The results of the measuring the grain size increasing after irradiation with gamma ray from (6.424-9.091)nm. The absorbance and transmittance spectra have been recorded in the wavelength range (300-1100) nm.Results show that theoptical band gap for (PVA: CuO) increasing after irradiation with gamma ray from (2.3-2.7)eV. Andthe absorption coefficient,extinction coefficient, refraction index, the finesse coefficient andthe optical conductivity are increase after irradiated with gamma ray .

في هذه البحث تم دراسة تاثير التشعيع على الخواص التركيبية والبصرية لاغشية بوليمر فينال الكحول المشوبة باوكسيد النحاس والمحضرة بطريقة الصب وبسمك ( 20±1) µm,وقد استخدم المصدر المشع Cs137 ذو طاقة 663KeV للحصول على اشعة كاما وكان زمن التشعيع (50) ساعة وبفعالية ( 4.3)ci .وباستخدام تقنية حيود الاشعة السينية وجد ان اغشية بوليمر فينال الكحول المشوبة باوكسيد النحاس ذات تركيب متعدد التبلوروتم حساب الحجم الحبيبي قد جد انه يزدادبعد التشعيع باشعة كاما من (6.424-9.091)nm. اما طيف الامتصاصية والنفاذية فقد سجل ضمن مدى الطول الموجي (300-1100) وقد وجد ان فجوة الطاقة تزداد بعد التشعيع باشعة كاما من (2.3-2.7)eV اما معامل الامتصاص ,معامل الخمود ،معامل الانكسار،ومعامل الجودة والتوصيلية البصرية تزداد بعد التشعيع باشعة كاما.

Abstract

Annealing thermal plays an important role on the formation of high Tc-phase BiPbSrCaCuZnO through expansion and contraction layers which be associated with formation high and low phases respectively, The prepared samples composition BiPbSrCaCuZnO have been annealed at (1093,1113,1133,1153 k). It is observed the critical temperature Tc increase for films which annealed at (1093, 1113, 1153 k) while Tc decreases at Ta =1133 k.

نبين في هذا البحث دور التلدين في احداث تمدد وتقلص بين طبقات الشبيكة وتأثيرهما على تكوين اطوار عالية وواطئة للتوصيلية الفائقة لغشاء رقيق لنظام BiPbSrCaCuZnO من خلال درجة حرارة الانتقال Tc المسجلة لكل درجة تلدين حيث كانت درجات حرارة الانتقال للعينات الملدنة عند (Ta=1093,1133,1153 K) هي (Tc=95,100,super behavior K).

Abstract

A mathematical model and associated computer program were developed to simulate the steady state operation of wiped film evaporators for the concentration of glycerol-water solution. In this model, various assumptions were made to facilitate the mathematical model of the wiped film evaporator. The fundamental phenomena described were: sensible heating of the solution and vaporization of water. Physical property data were coded into the computer program, which performs the calculations of this model. Randomly selected experiments were carried out in a small scale wiped film evaporator from ALVAL COMPANY, using different concentrations of the glycerol solution (10, 30 and 50 Wt. %) for different feed rates (30, 50, 80, 100 and 120 l/h) and two values of steam jacket pressure (2 and 4 atm) to compare between experimental and simulation results. The statistical analysis gave correlation coefficient of 0.9972, average absolute error of 2.2527 % and F-test of 0.9639 which showed the high accuracy of the simulation work.

Abstract

Structural and optical properties were studied as a function of films thickness forthermally evaporation PbI2 films. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that PbI2films are polycrystalline having hexagonal structure. The optical absorption dataindicate an allowed direct transmission with optical energy gap varies continuouslyfrom ( 2.15eV to 2.33eV) . The energy gap shows thickness dependence, whichcan be explained qualitatively by a thickness dependence of grain size through thedecrease of the grain boundary barrier height with grain size. The low fluctuationin energy gap indicates that the grain size is quite small, which is finding inagreement with AFM results.

Abstract

Pure CdS thin films with different condition have been successfully deposited by thermal evaporation in vacuum on glass slide substrates. The substrates temperature of about 100oC and the vacuum of about 10-6 torr. The film was annealing with different temperature (300 to 500oC) and different time of annealing (10 to 85min). The film structure properties were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD). XRDpatterns indicated the presence of single –phase hexagonal CdS with good crystalline, some of the structural characterization such as lattice constant, average grain size and micro strain are calculated from the X-rays pattern. The average roughness was obtained by using AFM scanning microscope, which shows that the average roughness decreased with increase the annealing temperature. Direct band gapvalues of (2.35 to 2.15eV) for different annealing temperature (300-500oC) and (2.34 to 2.33eV) for (10min to 85min) annealing time at 200oC annealing temperature respectively, the transmission value of prepared samples are between (50-80%).
