Abstract

The research analyzes and evaluates the most important global indicators, which are used to measure the quality of scientific productivity. To identify the strengths and weaknesses of each one. And compare them. The study concluded that all these indicators are still far from giving a precise and equitable assessment of the quality of scientific productivity of researchers and scientists, Depending on the factors, circumstances and capabilities surrounding each of them at the level of specialization and scientific age.

Abstract

This study was designed to investigate the effect of different replacementlevels of fishmeal with Spirulina sp. on growth performance and some blood parametersof common carp Cyprinus carpio L., the trail was conducted for 105 days and for thispurpose 200 fingerlings common carp. Mean initial weight was 32.7g. The fish wereacclimated to laboratory conditions and fed with control pellets (32% crude protein)prior to the feeding trials for 21 days. Five experimental diets were used and Spirulinareplaced fishmeal protein from the standard diet at 0% (T1), 5% (T2), 10% (T3), 15%(T4) and 20% (T5) levels. No differences observed among the treatments in the Liverindex, Gonadosomato index were 6.489, 5.680, 5.339, 4.009 and 3.770 for the (T3),(T4), (T5), (T2) and (T1) respectively, results of statistical analysis showed nosignificant (P<0.05) different among all treatments but the higher value of GSI andLiver index found in T3.

Abstract

Potential health and environmental effects of nanoparticles need to be thoroughly assessed before their widespread commercialization. The present investigation was planned with the aims to determine the effects of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) onblast (BI) and mitotic (MI) indices of cultured lymphocytes. The results revealed that BI (50.3 ± 2.3, 30.2 ± 1.9, 10.5 ± 0.7 and0.0%, respectively) and MI (70.1 ± 2.9, 20.4 ± 1.1, 5.3 ± 0.1 and 0.0%, respectively) showed a gradual decreased percentageas the concentration of GNPs was increased from 0.085 to 0.66 μg/mL, and the difference was significant compared to controlculture (81.6 ± 2.5 and 90.2 ± 3.7%, respectively). A maximum inhibition of BI and MI was occurred at the concentration 0.66μg/mL. In conclusion, GNPs can be considered as a growth inhibiting agent, but it is too early to reach a final conclusion inthis regard and further investigations are required to elucidate the biochemical mechanisms involved in inhibiting the mitoticactivity of lymphocytes.

Abstract

This work incorporates phytoplankton decent variety and its physicochemical properties in Tigris river with various conditions, for example, (Temperature of water and air, pH, total suspended solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TDS), water flow, Light Penetration, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), total alkalinity, hardness, calcium, magnesium, and micronutrients. During the study period in Al- Gheraiat area, there were 199 species of phytoplankton; diatoms were the most common. Their growing peak was in spring 2017 comparing to summer and autumn 2016. Water quality, understudy, was arranged according to Shannon and Winner’s index in addition to Palmer’s Pollution index. The quality of the river water has been proved to be of moderate pollution according to Shannon and Winner’s index and of high organic pollution according to Palmer’s Pollution index.

Abstract

Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus is a disorder of the immune system with many clinical manifestations.Aims of this study: is to find the correlations between the clinical manifestations of lupus nephritis and the pathological activity and chronicity indices.Patients and methods: This is a random cross-sectional study that took a period of two years started from 2015 to 2017, we collected kidney biopsy specimens from thirty patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, 28 were females and 2 were males. All patients were diagnosed as systemic lupus erythematosus if fulfilled ≥4 American college of rheumatology criteria for systemic lupus erythematosus. The activity and chronicity scoring indices are based on the percentage of glomeruli with each feature in the biopsy on a 0 to 3 scale, with a score of 0 = not present, 1 = <25% glomeruli, 2 = 25-50% glomeruli, and 3 indicating >50% glomeruli. Results: the chronicity index score increased with disease duration. The incidence of anemia increases with presence of high scores of chronicity index. With more than 40 percent of patients with lupus nephritis have glomeruli fibrosis percentage between 25-50%. Malar rash has significant correlation with both activity and chronicity indices. Conclusion: There was no significant correlation between gender, arthritis, edema, with both activity and chronicity indices.

Abstract

Background: Many orthodontic problems arise at the age of 10-12 years therefore the aim of this study was to detect the percentage of pupil at age 10-12 year that need orthodontic treatment and have not done it till now, and the possibility of motivating them.Materials and methods: 1500 Iraqi pupil at school age of 10-12 year were examined according to grade designed by Sweden orthodontic board. Results: 57% of the sample required no treatment, 23.3% required mild treatment, and 14% required moderate while 5.3% required great treatment & 0.3% require very great treatment. Conclusion: Majority of pupils that need treatment didn’t receive any motivation even from their dentist. There is a great shortage in dental health education programs. About half of pupil examined didn’t need treatment although there is a large number of the sample who needs treatment.

Abstract

Ninety six patient aged between 12 – 50 years attending the college of dentistry ,Al- mustansyria university and the investigators clinics , they were divided into twoequal groups; 48 Patients suffering acute apical periodntitis ( painful ) weresubjected to different antibiotics after drainage and their prognosis towards nonpainfulchronic apical perioddontitis was observed and were as follows : 29.3% withAzithromycin, 20.8 % with ampicilline and 29.3% with ampicilline plusmetronidazole with a total of 79.4 % .The second group, were 48 students aged 12- 20 years suffering from severemarginal gingivitis ( GI-3 ) and were subjected to different antibiotics afterprophylaxis and some of them were kept on prophylaxis alone and their progress tomild marginal gingivitis ( G.I.1) was observed and were as follows :20.8 % withazithromycin , 16.7 % with ampicilline, 22.9 % with ampicilline plus metronidazoleand 20.8 % with prophylaxis and oral hygiene practice alone with a total of 81.2 %showing no significant difference between prophylaxis alone and those withprophylaxis and antibiotics .

Abstract

The stability of cycloalkanes strain energy, branched alkanes and linear alkanes, can be reasonablymodeled using the harmonic index (H), which is commonly defined as H(G)Σ where d(u) denotes thevertex degree of u in graph G. In the current work, public equation is derived to the H index of vertex gluing andcertain graphs.
